Originating from South Tyrol, “Scheiterhaufen” is an ancient recipe made with just a few ingredients (leftover bread, eggs, milk, sugar) and is the true mountain comfort food.
Annalena Gunner has created for us the version with Five Citrus Panettone!
The recipe
- Ingredients
- 4 servings
- 250 g Citrus Panettone
- 1 egg
- 250 ml milk
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- ½ tablespoon cinnamon
Directions

Preheat the oven to 180°C.
Slice the panettone and place it in a casserole dish.
Whisk the egg and milk together, then pour the mixture over the panettone. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.




Bake in the oven for 15 minutes until golden brown.
