In Prague, Carolina found the dimension to spread her creativity, a place where she met the right people to achieve her dreams.

The 6° episode of Friends of Taste introduces the story of Carolina.

7 years ago, she moved from Italy to Prague looking for her identity.  She left a country that had no opportunities for her. However, it still holds a special place in her heart.

In this video, Carolina talks about her projects, her ambitions. She explains why she decided to live in Prague, even if she still misses her country of birth.

"Kde domov můj, kde domov můj?"
“Where is my home?” I closed my eyes and found myself in Prague.
I moved to Prague seven years ago. When you’re in your twenties, you still want to rebel, you need to find your identity, your own path. Prague seemed far from where I grew up, yet close enough that I could go back to my native country whenever I felt the need.
I left a country that had no opportunities for me. However, it still holds a special place in my heart. It’s important not to completely cut ties with your past, because it is a solid foundation on which to build your future. And this is exactly what I celebrate every day: coming from such a beautiful and rich country, I want to share it with others in all its forms: art, language, culture, cuisine...
Prague is a friendly city. I like living in a capital city that isn’t chaotic. Things work here: they have their own rhythm and it suits me fine. You can breathe the history of Europe. Yet the city is capable of renewing itself, showing its modern face, in step with progress.
When evening falls, the city lights up and reveals its magic, its stories, its history.
My life is like a carousel: it goes up and down, round and round. I never want to get off. I get to do so many things: I’ve really found the right place for my creativity. I found the right people with whom to carry out my projects. I can afford to make my dreams come true. What else could I ask for?
I cook, share, create, write, photograph, study, present… But above all, I enjoy myself.
There are things I still miss, like the sea... also the open-air market, the small shops where everyone knows each other and meets there to buy bread, fruit, vegetables, meat, fish... I miss riding a bicycle and filling my basket with freshly picked produce...
I am someone who experiments in the kitchen. I like giving the Italian tradition an extra edge: I draw on the family cookbook, but I always add my personal touch to the recipes. Whether it’s a fragrance, a flavor or a color, I like representing that I’m a citizen of the world.
One of my most cherished childhood memories is when my nanny and I made lasagna together: we would roll out the dough by hand and she would let me play with the meat sauce and the bechamel. When I discovered Lasagneria, for me it was feeling like a child again, like going back home. Here I find authentic flavors that also reflect my creative style.
Kde domov muj? Muj domov je tady. My home is here.
